Ministry, Should I or Shouldn’t I
by Angel Gail Konz

So often in the course of my life I am asked by people if I think they should pursue the ministry. This is not an answer that I can give you across the board.

First, there are so many ways of being a minister. When one administers, one is a minister. So many of you are always reaching out and touching someone or sharing your time and insight with others, isn’t that what a minister does? Of course it is not all of what a minister does yet it is a large part of day for them.

My first suggestion to you would be to ask yourself why are you thinking about becoming a minister." If indeed it is so that you can work more closely with folks at what feels like a Soul level, there are many ways to that. Many therapists work at this level some of which would be, massage, polarity, Reiki, Quantum Healing, Healing Health, Touch for Health, Kinesiology and many others. All of these are very meaningful, valuable and healing therapies.

On the other hand officiating at marriages, baptisms, funerals and an assortment of other special occasions is something that to me nothing else equals.

There is an assortment of ways to become a minister. My suggestion would be to do more than any type of mail order certification because being enrolled in an actual ministry program will teach you many things that you will find invaluable in your day-to-day work as a minister. These are things that I can guarantee you that you will need in performing the services of your new vocation.

Check locally to see what is available. You could begin at your local Churches, Wellness Centers or even asking other ministers as to their background and training. Check with the colleges because surprising enough some colleges do offer these types of courses. Many programs are available that do not take a long term commitment. If you are local to the Michigan area it is possible for me to give you some information as to what is in our area.

For me it was a matter of choosing twice so that I have two certifications and would consider another one when I find the time to do so because I always learn so much more, and feel renewed in my commitment to the ministry as well as to myself.

In conclusion, if you find yourself asking the question as to should I or shouldn’t I around the ministry, I would say begin the process now by looking into what is available in your area and what would work for you. At any step if it does not feel right to you it is always possible for you to change your direction. The only way to truly know anything is to stop “no-ing” it and “know” There is never any time like the present time for whatever it is you are yearning for. Only you can take the steps to make it happen. Ideas are of a Divine nature so listen and follow your direction as it is all an answer to your prayers.
