Becky LaneyBio current as of October 2007
Becky Laney is an SCS Practitioner, Licensed Practitioner of Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP),
and Certified Hypnotherapist. Fresh out of high school and already yearning for the answers,
Becky enrolled at Kalamazoo College and studied Psychology. Though informative, the years spent
there and the textbook responses did not provide what she was looking for. Years later, enrolling
in a nursing program gave her the "physical" knowledge she needed and adding it to the mental
knowledge she had already attained, she felt closer to the truth but still felt there
was a piece missing.
Interrupted by the life's intrusions-a job, another job, a relationship or two,
a marriage, a couple kids, dogs and a cat-her passion for finding her purpose
was put on hold. Precious spare time was spent scouring the local library or on the
shelf of an off-the-wall head shop for a book that would enlighten her, but there were
few books in print that touched upon the mystery she had yet found a word to describe.
She located a group of alternative healers in Richland, Michigan, and took classes
in Intuition and Healing, but the classes were as small as the information they
had to offer, and they felt like a teaser leaving her begging for more. Time passed;
she managed a restaurant, Co-Chaired the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and was the vice president
of a health insurance company. Her vocations provided her with success and allowed her
to reach people everyday. Her volunteering with Wish Kids and the Boys and Girls Clubs
of America allowed her to grow spiritually yet Becky yearned for more and the universe
had a plan. Becky's life was to change dramatically.
Her marriage dissolved and destiny led her to meet her current husband. She
remarried and moved to Saint Joseph, Michigan. Her new mate was no stranger to
holistic healing as his first wife had passed, transitioning peacefully with the
help of some wonderful practitioners that would soon become Becky's mentors. Becky
was introduced to these wonderful people and felt privileged to become a part
of the circle. Four months after remarrying, the father of her two young children
died unexpectedly. Becky and her children experienced incredible healing under the
watchful eye of caring holistic practitioners in Saint Joseph.
Attending The Grief Journey group,
a multi-cultural on-going group co-facilitated by Rev. Debra Basham and Rev. Linda Beushaushen,
allowed Becky to examine herself as well as experience an incredible connection to the universe.
The children benefited from Lory's Place, a grief healing and bereavement center of Hospice at
Home, Inc. (www.lorysplace.org/), and the wonderful volunteers that walked the healing
journey with them.
Once introduced to the world of healing energy, Becky realized she had
found what she was looking for. Energy awareness was the missing link. The
answers to all those questions she had were now in front of her just
waiting to be discovered. Having been introduced, everything began to
move swiftly and smoothly. It all fell into place. She dove into classes.
Awakenings with Angel Gail Konz,
Healing with Language, Healing with Energy, Pre- and Post Surgical Support,
NLP and Hypnotherapy, the latter all being part of the comprehensive curriculum
of SCS Matters, LLC (www.scs-matters.com), with Dr. Joel Bowman and Rev. Debra Basham.
As Becky studied with Joel and Debra, she started out running. Within days of
receiving her Pre- and Post Surgical Support with SCS certificate, she was
providing support in the hospital to a patient with severe back pain. Due to
horrific pain, even though she was hooked up to a morphine drip, the patient
had been unable to experience restful sleep. The pain was unbearable. With knees
shaking but her intent true, Becky began. The patient quickly relaxed,
fell asleep, and even snored through the hour long session. Becky passed the
patients husband in the parking ramp and when she explained that
his wife was sleeping soundly he was astonished. After fourteen painful days
in a hospital bed she had not slept longer than a few minutes at a time.
Becky knew at that moment she had indeed found her life's calling. The following day,
the patient's back surgery was successful. The next day Becky's patient was released,
feeling better than she thought she ever would, just as Becky had
been trained to tell her she would. That was all the confirmation Becky
needed to commit fully to the education and the direction this combination
of energy work and linguistics was leading her.
Since that time, Becky has used the SCS/NLP/Hypnotherapy successfully for smoking cessation,
obsessive compulsive disorders, gagging reflex disorder, relief from chronic pain,
weight management, and many more disorders-physical and emotional.
Becky's office is in downtown Saint Joseph, Michigan. Her patients ages
range from eight years old to eighty. Becky is committed to helping her
clients heal with energy and language. She understands the integration
of traditional medicine with alternative healing. Her compassion to assist in
healingphysical, mental, emotional or spiritualis noted in her passion
to continue learning and growing. She sees each day as an opportunity to enlighten
herself and those she touches and continues to thank the universe for the
incredible journey it has allowed her to experience.
