The Madness of March Hares

March hares were considered mad before Lewis Carroll’s March Hare at Alice’s tea party in Wonderland. Evidently, March is the start of breeding season for hares in England, and the furry little guys get pretty excited about it. In some ways the same is true for SCS this year. SCS spent January in restoration and renewal. We returned to visible activity with February’s Super Sunday, and with the arrival of March, it’s time for us to get fully back into the swing of things. The same is probably true for you.

Online Instruction in NLP Now Available

While on hiatus, we designed a program for online instruction in NLP, Energy Medicine, and The Intuitive Process using the course management software Moodle. Currently, the NLP program is ready to go. We are also in the process of completing a comprehensive revision of Healing with Energy: Your Key to Health and Well-being, which now also includes the SCS surgical support materials. We expect to have both the manual and online instruction for that available soon. We will develop the program for enhancing your intuitive process as soon after that as demand dictates.

Meanwhile, if you are ready to begin or continue your study of NLP, let Debra know. For those interested in an introduction to NLP or who desire to brush-up on their NLP skills, the subscription is only $25 a month with the purchase of Healing with Language: Your Key to Effective Mind-Body Communication. Monthly fees will be applied toward your cost of certification as a Practitioner or Master Practitioner of NLP when earned through SCS. Using the program is free for those who have already paid for and are working toward NLP certification with SCS.

Are You Ready for Video-based Instruction?

We’ve been experimenting with video conferencing using Skype. We'd be glad for the opportunity to expand our our experiment to include a few of you who would be interested in using video conferencing to discuss NLP, Energy Medicine, or the intuitive process. If you wish to be one of the few, please send us a message letting us know your interest so that we can make specific arrangements for time and mode of conferencing.

Scheduled Trainings

The March Super Sunday (the 28th), will be followed by an NLP intensive in April (17th through the 25th), with a second NLP intensive being offered in August (13th through the 21st). The Super Sunday in March may be the last in that series, as we have developed a comprehensive plan for continuing education using the combination of online instruction with Moodle and video conferencing using Skype. Given the combination of learning opportunities, you will be able to earn certification as a Licensed Practitioner of NLP in April, and then complete your certification as Licensed Master Practitioner in August. SCS/NLP Manual In Published Form

One of the things we’re still celebrating is the newly published version of Healing with Language: Your Key to Effective Mind-Body Communication, which was hot off the press in June. The new edition retails for $24.95 plus 6 percent Michigan sales tax ($1.50) and $3 for shipping by U.S. Mail. Those who have previously studied with SCS are eligible for a special discount. When asked recently in an interview for a new credit card for SCS business expenses, “Where do your students come from?” Debra wanted to respond, “They come from the womb,” but you can overcome self-destructive urges. Actually, most of those who choose to study with us come from others who already know us and value the benefits of SCS/NLP. You study with us, tell others, and then those others also tell others. Other trainers may be bigger, and others may charge more, but we’re glad to be the “David” to the ׏Golaiths” of NLP Training. Destress with SCS

The idea for De-S-T-R-E-S-S with SCS was a result of the stress in the economy and the great reviews Debra has had from some lunch & learn presentations. One organization Debra has been presenting to reported a savings of over $900,000 last year—with an investment of $100,000. This organization is working with Holtyn & Associates, the group Debra has been working with. As founder, Ken Holtyn said, "We don't have a health care system in this country—we have a sick care system." But that can all change quickly, one person at a time. SCS Now on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter

One of Joel’s father’s favorite expressions was, “Off like a herd of turtles.” That’s the speed at which we’re catching up with modern technology. Joel has started posting SCS News on his Facebook “wall”. If you’re a regular FB user, let Joel know you want to be his “friend” on Facebook. Be sure to let him know that you’re interested in the SCS updates, as many of the comments people make on Facebook center on the minutia of their lives.

SCS now has ten videos on YouTube. To see the complete list, go to Joel P. Bowman's Channel and click on the link for "Uploads." In the most recent video, Debra explains how you can receive all the benefits and none of the unpleasant side effects when you need to take prescription medications.

We have been using Twitter for SCS announcements for those of you who enjoy receiving information that way. If you’re on Twitter—or would like to see what it is like without jumping headlong into an overwhelm of “tweets,” sign up to follow SCSMattersLLC.

If you are new to Twitter, a word of caution. When Joel first signed up for SCS, he discovered that he had automatically been subscribed to follow a number of Hollywood celebrities and that two addresses that linked to pornographic sites instantly signed up to follow SCSMattersLLC. Fortunately, it is easy to remove yourself from following and being followed, and, as they say in the military, forewarned is forearmed. And fortunately, you won’t need four arms to choose to follow SCSMattersLLC.

Most Recent CD

SCS has developed and released a new CD. “Everlasting Peace” is a special product created for use by individuals as they are nearing death. This project was done with a unique Hospice program in mind: Hospice at Home. Hospice is a program that works to manage pain (emotional and mental as well as physical) during this intense time of transition. Designed to promote a deep sense of well-being, regardless of current life circumstances, “Everlasting Peace” is appropriate for use by all those involved—family, friends, care givers, hospice staff, and others who desire reduction of stress and greater peace of mind.

The background music, Pachelbel’s Cannon in D, Three Meditative Variations with Ocean, by Liv & Let Live, is used by permission. No Longer New but Still Relevant

Debra has joined the staff at Borgess Integrative Medicine (3025 Gull Road, Kalamazoo, MI 49048) on a part-time basis. Her work there is primarily NLP and hypnotherapy. The problems she will be addressing through Borgess Integrative Medicine include the following:

Elimination of anxieties, fears, and phobias
Stress reduction
Weight management
Improved self-esteem and confidence
Health issues, such as depression, insomnia, memory improvement, or pain management
Smoking cessation

This workshop will help you create a vision that transcends your personal and professional life by bringing your conscious and unconscious resources into alignment so that you can be more effective with yourself and others.

Convenient and Affordable NLP Training

Our goal is to make NLP training convenient and affordable for those whose principal objectives are to use the NLP skill set to enhance their own sense of health and well-being and that of others.

We still are offering introductory programs so that those who wanted specific NLP skill sets would be able to acquire those at lower cost while deciding that earning certification in NLP would be a good investment. We have decided to center the certification programs on four, 5-day segments, each focusing on a specific skill set:

Sell-Buy-ology: “Sell-Buy-ology” focuses on understanding and influencing your own behavioral patterns and those of others in both interpersonal and group situations. Selling and buying are a natural process and part of what is often called “the Dance of Life.” This skill set includes common business applications, such as the buying and selling process, influence and motivation, meeting management, decision-making strategies, and cultivating your Natural Magnetism to enhance your leadership skills.
Holistic Health/Holistic Wealth: The principal impetus behind “Healing with Language” is on using language to promote your own health and well-being—of body, mind, and spirit—as well as the health and well-being of others. This module focuses on personal and relationship enhancement, including creating and/or enhancing your sense of Holistic Wealth and ability to manifest abundance in all aspects of life: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
Classroom Classics: One of the initial applications of NLP was in education. Among Richard Bandler’s early observations was that too classroom teachers often inadvertently reinforce behaviors that inhibit learning. The module we’re calling “Classroom Classics,” is designed to facilitate the application of NLP to the strategies of teaching and learning, regardless of the context. If you are a parent, a supervisor, a corporate trainer, Scout Leader, or otherwise have responsibilities for instructing others, this information is essential.
Relationship Dynamics: Most people—and you may be one of them—vastly underestimate the complexity of relationships, both business and personal. Personality sorters, such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Enneagram, tell only part of the story. Understanding behavioral types will help you move from the Drama Triangle to the Cognitive Triangle, but a deeper understanding is required to reach what we call the Transrational Pyramid. This training will help you see all your relationships from a totally new perspective.

You may take one complete module to develop a particular skill set while you consider whether certification as a Licensed Practitioner or Licensed Master Practitioner of NLP will add value to your training. Whatever changes we make in the program, NLP training with SCS will continue to combine the traditional skill-set as developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder with the latest technologies developed by Richard and those who are following in his footsteps and exploring the technologies of change. Among those with whom we have trained are John La Valle, Owen Fitzpatrick, Gabriel Guerrero. In all our training, we strive to ensure that when you have earned certification as a Master Practitioner through SCS, you will be well-prepared to take “Trainer Training” with Richard and John and achieve Licensed Trainer certification as well.

The Fast Track Credits Previous Training

If you are a certified Reiki Master or certified in Healing Touch™, Therapeutic Touch™ or other recognized form of energy medicine; we will waive the requirement for “Healing with Energy” (SCS Level 1) with the purchase and reading of the training manual for that program. We are also providing abbreviated coverage of “Healing with Energy and Language” (SCS Levels 3A and 3B) for those with equivalent training through other established healing modalities.

Also, we are now automatically including SCS Level 2 certification in “Healing with Language” with NLP certification training. For those interested in the Level 2 certification only, the first three days of NLP training with SCS cover what’s required for Level 2.

SCS Level 3A, “Healing with Energy and Language for Personal Enrichment,” typically consists of three days of focusing on SCS technologies for enhancing your own health and well-being. The training will also enable you to use the technologies with confidence on family and friends. Level 3B is designed primarily for those who intend to establish or enhance a clinical practice.
“SCS Practitioner Certification (SCS Level 3B)” requires the successful completion of 3A and a period of mentoring based on individual background and needs. The mentoring program is designed to ensure a broad awareness of healing modalities, both of the complementary/ alternative variety and mainstream Western medicine. SCS Level 3B focuses primarily on the business aspects of working with clients, including record keeping, client confidentiality and other ethical matters, and professional representation.

The changes in the SCS program not only provide more flexibility and convenience, but also ensure a higher level of qualification for SCS practitioners. If you have already earned certification in another established healing modality, be sure to ask about The Fast Track Specials.

We have also changed requirements for certification as SCS Master Practitioner (Level 4) and SCS Licensed Trainer (SCS Level 5), allowing for recognition of previous and/or additional training. The new program allows us not only greater flexibility, but also higher standards—a win-win all around. To ensure a full range of skills in SCS Master Practitioners and Trainers, we are now requiring those who wish to earn SCS Master Practitioner certification complete “Pre- and Postsurgical Support” and those who wish to become Licensed Trainers of SCS earn certification as Master Practitioners of NLP.

Perpetual Tuition ... and More

With SCS, continuing education is convenient and affordable. It’s our way of saying, “Thank you for choosing us as your trainers.” When you have completed a certification with SCS, you may update your skills by retaking all or part of any course previously completed at the low cost of $25 a day. As far as we know, that’s the best training bargain available anywhere, and it can allow you to stay current with material as we develop it and as we learn new things and incorporate them into our training.
