The daughter got a ladder and climbed up to change the bulb.
Her mother followed her out onto the porch.
From down below her, the daughter heard her mother’s voice say to her, “Don’t worry, you’re safe, I’ve got you.”
In that moment, total awareness of her mother’s love and their genuine connection dissipated all illusion of separation.
