Debra’s Wellness Tips

“You may have a fresh start any moment you choose,
for this thing that we call ‘failure’ is not the falling down,
but the staying down.”
~ Mary Pickford

I am one of those people who is maudlin about New Years. I love the way all endings are really new beginnings. Just having the opportunity to put the old behind and begin again gets the engine running.

There are a zillion ways you can celebrate all that the previous 365 days have produced.

Write a poem.

Create a collage.

Take time to reflect and journal about your year.

Seal an envelope addressed to yourself, inside tuck a list of “failures” you are letting go now, and ask a friend to send it to you next year this same time.

This week, be intentional about letting go the old, having learned from it all, and welcoming the new. Rainer Maria Rilke says we now welcome the new year, full of things that never were.
